Junior I.T. Technician Vacancy



We are looking to recruit an Junior I.T. engineer that is able to work within our schools support team to deliver excellent service and technically competent support. You will be providing day to day support as well as assisting with projects including server installations and network upgrades.

Westcom has a client base across Cumbria. The company and its team support a range of different sized businesses and primary schools with all aspects of their I.T. needs as well as providing a PC and laptop repair service to the public from our workshop located in Workington.

Salary and Benefits

£16,000 to £22,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Job Specification

The role will include:

·         Ensuring smooth day to day running of clients’ computer systems

·         Providing technical support to customers over the phone, remotely and on site at our customer premises

·         Installation and upgrade projects ensuring they are completed in a timely manner

·         Helping to strengthen and maintain client relationships

·         Working as part of a small team


Essential Requirements:

·         1-2 years’ experience in a similar role or holds a level 3 I.T qualification

·         Ability to manage a changing workload adapting priorities as required

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Excellent time and record keeping skills

·         Customer service experience

·         Pass a DBS check and understand safeguarding measures in place when working in education establishments with children


Desirable Skills / Qualities:

·         Relevant professional qualifications such as Microsoft/CISCO/VMWare

·         Available to work occasional flexible hours

·         Ability to learn quickly and develop new skills

·         Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle

·         Experience with most of the following;

o   Active Directory

o   Multi-site networks and VPN’s

o   Web Domains and Hosting

o   Windows 7,8 and 10

o   Server 2008, 2012
